When we try to judge
the sentiment of life
we freeze the universe into a point
we buy into the image
of the experience of a moment

the waves of emotion
are felt the most in memory
when time gives space
for the events to live

the sorrow Ive felt
has flowed through me
and taught me
about the depths of love

the pain
has been felt
to its extent

a loss is no more
than the same thing gained
the joy of life's experience
is the engine of our spirit
pain only teaches us
the lay of the course
together they allow
appreciation
gratitude
and compassion
for those who
cannot make it through
